Stroke PROTECT Program
The Stroke PROTECT program is a quality improvement program dedicated to the reduction of recurrent cerebrovascular events through improved utilization of proven, evidence-based secondary prevention treatments.

This hospital-based program has so far shown that the treatment gap for secondary stroke prevention can be reduced and the potential for patient survival following discharge significantly improved.

The background, design, rationale, results and clinical significance of the Stroke PROTECT program are contained within this website. In addition, the website provides all the necessary tools you would need to implement a similar hospital-based cerebrovascular treatment program at your insitution, in order to improve the care of your stroke patients.

We firmly believe that the implementation of a program such as this, at each and every hospital that caters to stroke patients, would result in a uniform, focused and systematic interdisciplinary treatment approach, which could empower the lives of all stroke patients. The program's importance in reducing morbidity, mortality, and the enormous economic burden of stroke cannot be overemphasized. Moreover, a stroke prevention program will have the added benefit of simultaneous reduction of other vascular events including myocardial infarction and peripheral arterial occlusion.

Does YOUR hospital have a Stroke PROTECT program??
